Missing teeth affect far more than the way you look. They change the way you eat, the way you speak, and, over time, the structure of your jaw and face. If you have been living with gaps in your smile, you know exactly how much it weighs on your confidence.

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Unlike dentures, they are permanent. Unlike bridges, they do not rely on neighbouring teeth for support. An implant is a titanium post that fuses with your jawbone, creating a foundation as strong as a natural tooth root. Once healed, a custom-made porcelain crown is attached, and the result looks, feels, and functions just like a real tooth.

In the UK, a single dental implant typically costs between £2,000 and £3,000. With The Health Store Turkey, the same procedure, using the same premium implant systems, starts from just £550. Your all-inclusive package covers your treatment, 5-star hotel, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of aftercare. No hidden costs, no surprises.

What Is Dental Implants?

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into your jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Titanium is biocompatible, which means your body accepts it naturally. Over a period of 2 to 3 months, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone in a process called osseointegration. Once this is complete, the implant becomes a permanent, stable anchor for a custom-made porcelain crown.

The result is a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and works like your natural teeth. You can eat, smile, and speak with complete confidence, there is nothing to remove, no adhesive, and no clicking or slipping.

Dental implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth, or, in combination with bridge systems, an entire arch. They are also the foundation for All-on-4 treatment, which is covered on its own page.

Our partner clinics in Turkey use Nobel Biocare, Straumann, and Osstem implant systems. These are the world's leading implant manufacturers, trusted by top dental professionals across Europe, the US, and beyond. Each system comes with a full manufacturer warranty, and your dentist selects the best option for your specific needs during your consultation.

The procedure is carried out in JCI-accredited hospital facilities by experienced implantologists, dentists who specialise specifically in implant placement. This is not general dentistry. Your implants are placed by someone who does this every day.

Am I Suitable?

Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?

Most adults with missing teeth are suitable for dental implants. The key requirement is having enough healthy jawbone to support the implant. Your dentist assesses this with a detailed 3D scan (CBCT) during your consultation.

You may be a good candidate if you have:

  • One or more missing teeth and want a permanent, fixed replacement
  • Teeth that cannot be saved and need extraction followed by replacement
  • Uncomfortable or ill-fitting dentures that you want to replace with something permanent
  • A bridge that has failed and you want a longer-lasting solution
  • Healthy gums and reasonable general health

There are some situations where additional treatment may be needed first. If you have lost bone in your jaw due to missing teeth (which is common, your jawbone naturally shrinks when there is no tooth root to stimulate it), a bone graft may be required before implant placement. Our partner clinics carry out bone grafting routinely, and your dentist will explain exactly what is needed during your consultation.

Smokers can have dental implants, but smoking significantly increases the risk of implant failure. Your dentist will discuss this honestly with you and may recommend reducing or stopping before your procedure.

Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or certain blood disorders may affect healing. Your dentist reviews your full medical history before recommending treatment, your safety always comes first.

Not sure if you are suitable? Send us some photos and a brief description of what you need. Your free, no-obligation consultation will give you a clear answer.

What Happens During the Procedure?

What Happens During Your Treatment?

Your dental implant journey is carefully planned in two stages, with everything coordinated by your personal patient coordinator.

Stage 1, Implant Placement (Trip 1)

Before you travel: You share photos, dental records, and any X-rays you have. Your dentist reviews everything and creates a preliminary treatment plan. Your coordinator arranges your hotel, transfers, and translator.

At the clinic: On your first day, your dentist carries out a thorough examination including a 3D CBCT scan. This confirms the exact placement of each implant. The procedure itself is carried out under local anaesthesia, with the option of sedation if you feel anxious. You will feel pressure during the placement, but no pain.

Each implant is placed precisely into the jawbone using guided surgery techniques. If a tooth needs to be extracted first, this is done in the same session. Temporary teeth or a temporary prosthesis are fitted so you are never without a smile.

You stay one night for observation and recovery, then have a follow-up appointment before heading home. Most patients are in Turkey for 3 to 5 days for Stage 1.

Stage 2, Crown Fitting (Trip 2)

After 2 to 3 months of healing at home, during which the implants fuse with your jawbone, you return for your permanent crowns. This second trip is shorter, typically 3 to 5 days. Your dentist takes fresh impressions, and your custom porcelain crowns are crafted and fitted.

You leave Turkey with a complete, permanent, natural-looking smile.

Between trips: Your patient coordinator stays in touch throughout the healing period. Regular check-ins make sure everything is progressing well, and you can reach out anytime with questions.

Recovery & Aftercare

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery from dental implant placement is more straightforward than most people expect. Here is what to anticipate.

The first 24 to 48 hours: Some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are normal. Your dentist prescribes pain relief and antibiotics to manage any discomfort and prevent infection. Most patients describe the pain as less than they expected, similar to having a tooth extracted. Applying ice packs and resting with your head slightly elevated helps reduce swelling.

The first week: Stick to soft foods and avoid chewing directly on the implant site. Warm soups, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, and smoothies are ideal. Most patients feel comfortable returning to normal activities within 2 to 3 days, though you should avoid strenuous exercise for about a week.

Weeks 2 to 12 (osseointegration): This is the healing phase where your implant fuses with the jawbone. During this time, you carry on with normal life, eating, working, socialising, while your body does its remarkable work beneath the surface. You will have temporary teeth in place, so your smile looks normal throughout.

Your patient coordinator checks in with you regularly during this period. If you have any concerns at all, you are one phone call or WhatsApp message away from support.

After your permanent crowns are fitted: Care is simple. Brush twice a day, floss around the implant daily (your dentist will show you the best technique), and attend regular check-ups with your dentist at home. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, they are designed to be a permanent solution.

Your 12 months of aftercare with The Health Store Turkey covers both trips and the entire healing period in between. You are supported from start to finish.

Risks & Considerations

Risks and Considerations

Dental implants have a success rate of 95% to 98% and are considered one of the safest and most predictable procedures in dentistry. However, as with any procedure, there are risks you should be aware of.

Implant failure: In a small number of cases (2% to 5%), the implant does not fuse properly with the jawbone. This can be caused by infection, insufficient bone density, or factors like smoking. If an implant fails, it can usually be replaced after a healing period.

Infection: As with any procedure that involves an incision, there is a risk of infection at the implant site. Your dentist prescribes antibiotics and provides detailed aftercare instructions to minimise this risk. Good oral hygiene during recovery is essential.

Nerve damage: In rare cases, implant placement in the lower jaw can affect the nerve that runs through the jawbone, causing numbness or tingling in the lip, chin, or tongue. Precise 3D scanning and guided surgery techniques significantly reduce this risk.

Sinus issues: Implants placed in the upper back jaw sit close to the sinus cavities. Occasionally, an implant may protrude into the sinus. This is rare with proper planning and can be managed if it occurs.

Bone loss around the implant: Over many years, some patients may experience gradual bone loss around the implant (peri-implantitis). This is typically related to poor oral hygiene or smoking. Regular dental check-ups and good brushing habits are the best prevention.

Temporary discomfort: Swelling, bruising, and mild pain in the days after placement are normal and manageable with prescribed medication.

Our partner dentists discuss every one of these considerations with you before you agree to treatment. You will have a complete picture of the benefits, the risks, and what to expect, so your decision is fully informed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are designed to be a permanent solution. The titanium implant post itself can last a lifetime with proper care. The porcelain crown on top typically lasts 15 to 25 years before it may need replacing. Good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding habits like smoking give your implants the best chance of lasting as long as possible.

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, with the option of sedation if you feel anxious. You will not feel pain during the placement, most patients report feeling pressure but nothing more. Afterward, there is some discomfort and swelling for a few days, but it is manageable with prescribed pain relief. The majority of patients say it was much less painful than they expected.

Dental implants require a healing period of 2 to 3 months between placement and crown fitting. During this time, the titanium implant fuses with your jawbone (osseointegration), creating the strong, permanent foundation needed to support your crown. Rushing this process would compromise the long-term success of your implant. The first trip is typically 3 to 5 days for placement, and the second trip is 3 to 5 days for your permanent crown fitting.

Our partner clinics use Nobel Biocare, Straumann, and Osstem implant systems. These are the world's most trusted implant manufacturers, used by leading dental professionals across Europe and the US. Each system comes with a full manufacturer warranty. Your dentist recommends the best system for your specific needs during your consultation, you are never given a one-size-fits-all approach.

In many cases, yes. If you have experienced bone loss in your jaw, which is common after teeth have been missing for some time, a bone graft can rebuild the area before implant placement. Our partner clinics carry out bone grafting routinely. In some cases, the bone graft and implant placement can be done in the same session. Your dentist assesses your situation with a 3D scan and gives you an honest recommendation about what is needed.
