Your nose sits at the centre of your face. When something about it bothers you, a bump, the width, the tip, the way it looks from the side, it can affect how you feel every time you look in the mirror or see a photograph of yourself. Rhinoplasty can change that.

Rhinoplasty (commonly called a "nose job") is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures worldwide. It can refine the shape, size, and proportions of your nose to create a more balanced, harmonious facial profile. Whether your concern is cosmetic, functional (such as a deviated septum affecting your breathing), or both, rhinoplasty offers a lasting solution.

Turkey is one of the world's leading destinations for rhinoplasty, with surgeons who perform thousands of nose procedures every year. In the UK, rhinoplasty typically costs between £5,000 and £8,000 for the procedure alone. With The Health Store Turkey, your all-inclusive package starts from just £2,370, covering your procedure at a government-licensed hospital, 5-star hotel, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of aftercare.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that reshapes the nose by modifying the bone, cartilage, or both. It can address a wide range of concerns and is one of the most technically precise cosmetic procedures performed.

Common reasons for rhinoplasty include:

  • Reducing or refining a bump on the bridge of the nose
  • Narrowing a wide nose
  • Reshaping or refining the nasal tip (bulbous, drooping, or upturned)
  • Correcting asymmetry
  • Reducing the overall size of the nose
  • Straightening a crooked nose
  • Improving breathing by correcting a deviated septum (functional rhinoplasty)

There are two main surgical approaches:

Open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils), allowing the surgeon full visibility and access to the nasal structure. This technique is preferred for more complex reshaping and offers the most precise results.

Closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nostrils, leaving no visible external scarring. This approach is suited to less complex adjustments and typically involves a shorter recovery.

Your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate technique based on your anatomy and the changes you are hoping to achieve. Using advanced imaging, your surgeon can show you a projected result before you commit, so you have a clear, realistic expectation of your outcome.

Am I Suitable?

Rhinoplasty may be right for you if:

  • You are unhappy with the shape, size, or proportions of your nose
  • You have a bump on the bridge that you would like smoothed
  • Your nasal tip is too bulbous, drooping, or upturned
  • Your nose appears crooked or asymmetric
  • You have difficulty breathing due to a structural issue like a deviated septum
  • You are in good general health and at least 18 years old (nasal growth should be complete)
  • You are a non-smoker, or willing to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before and after the procedure
  • You have realistic expectations, the goal is improvement and balance, not a specific celebrity look

Rhinoplasty is about creating a nose that suits your face. The best results look natural and proportionate, as though nothing has been done, just a version of you that you feel more comfortable with.

During your free consultation, your patient coordinator and surgeon will discuss your goals, assess your nasal structure, and determine the best approach. If rhinoplasty is not the right option for you, we will be upfront about that.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Before Your Procedure

Your journey starts with a free, no-obligation consultation, online, by phone, or at one of our UK consultation days. You will discuss what bothers you about your nose, what you would like to change, and your surgeon will assess your facial structure.

Many of our surgeons use digital imaging to create a projected before-and-after simulation. This helps you visualise the potential result and ensures you and your surgeon share the same expectations.

Once you decide to proceed, you will receive a treatment plan and pre-procedure instructions. These include avoiding blood-thinning medications, stopping smoking, and not wearing glasses that rest on the bridge of the nose for a period before the procedure.

During Your Stay in Turkey

Your VIP transfer will collect you from the airport and take you to your 5-star hotel. The following day, you will attend the hospital for pre-procedure assessments, blood tests, photographs, and a detailed face-to-face consultation with your surgeon. Final measurements and markings will be made.

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 1.5-3 hours, depending on the complexity. You will stay in the hospital for 1 night with attentive nursing care. Your personal translator will be with you throughout.

After Your Procedure

You will have a nasal splint on the outside of your nose and internal silicone splints or packing inside. These support the new shape as it heals. The external splint is typically removed after 7 days, and internal splints after 5-7 days.

Before you fly home, your surgeon will see you for a follow-up check. You will receive detailed aftercare instructions covering everything from sleeping position to when you can wear glasses again.

Recovery & Aftercare

Rhinoplasty has one of the shorter recovery periods among cosmetic procedures, though patience is key, the final result can take up to 12 months to fully reveal itself as subtle swelling resolves.

Days 1-3: Expect swelling and bruising around the nose and under the eyes. Your nose will feel congested, similar to having a heavy cold. Pain is typically mild and well-managed with prescribed medication. Keep your head elevated, even when sleeping, to reduce swelling.

Days 3-7: Bruising begins to fade (some patients have minimal bruising). You will still have your nasal splint in place. Avoid blowing your nose, and sneeze with your mouth open if you need to.

Day 7-10: Your external splint is removed, this is the first time you will see your new shape, though it will still be swollen. Most patients are pleasantly surprised, even at this early stage. Internal splints or packing are also removed around this time, which significantly improves your breathing.

Week 2-4: Most of the visible swelling and bruising has resolved. You can return to work and social activities, and most people will not notice you have had anything done. Avoid strenuous exercise, contact sports, and anything that could impact your nose.

Month 1-6: The shape continues to refine as deeper swelling gradually resolves. Avoid wearing glasses that rest on the bridge for at least 6 weeks (tape them to your forehead or use alternatives).

Month 6-12: Your final result becomes apparent. The nasal tip is the last area to fully settle, particularly with thicker skin types.

Risks & Considerations

Rhinoplasty is a well-established procedure with a strong safety profile when performed by an experienced surgeon. As with any procedure under general anaesthesia, there are considerations to be aware of.

Common effects (expected and temporary):

  • Swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes, resolves over 2-4 weeks
  • Congestion and difficulty breathing through the nose, improves as internal swelling reduces
  • Numbness at the nasal tip, very common and typically resolves within a few months
  • Mild discomfort, managed with standard pain relief

Less common considerations:

  • Minor asymmetry, noses are never completely symmetrical, and minor irregularities can occur
  • Revision rhinoplasty, a small percentage of patients (around 5-10%) may desire refinement of the result. This can be discussed during your aftercare
  • Infection, rare, minimised through sterile hospital conditions and antibiotics
  • Nosebleeds, occasional light bleeding is normal in the first week
  • Scarring, open rhinoplasty leaves a tiny scar on the columella that is virtually invisible once healed

How your safety is managed: Your procedure is performed by a surgeon who specialises in rhinoplasty and facial procedures. The hospital is government-licensed and JCI-accredited. You receive attentive nursing care during your stay, and your 12 months of included aftercare means your team monitors your healing and is available for any concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions

The goal of rhinoplasty is always a natural-looking result that complements your face. Your surgeon plans the procedure around your unique facial proportions, not a one-size-fits-all template. The best rhinoplasty results are the ones people do not notice, your nose simply looks like it belongs. During your consultation, digital imaging can help you visualise the projected outcome so you feel confident before you commit.

You will see a noticeable improvement as soon as the splint comes off at around day 7, but this is not the final result. Most of the swelling resolves within the first 3 months, giving you a good indication of the shape. However, the nasal tip takes longest to settle, particularly if you have thicker skin, and the true final result can take 12 months to fully emerge. Patience is important, and your aftercare team will guide you through each stage.

Yes. If you have a deviated septum or other structural issue affecting your breathing, this can be corrected at the same time as your cosmetic rhinoplasty. This is called a septorhinoplasty. Many patients choose to address both cosmetic and functional concerns in a single procedure. Let your surgeon know about any breathing difficulties during your consultation so they can incorporate this into your treatment plan.

With closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are inside the nostrils, so there are no visible scars at all. With open rhinoplasty, there is a small incision across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue between your nostrils. This scar heals remarkably well and becomes virtually invisible within a few months. Your surgeon will recommend the technique that offers the best result for your specific case and will discuss any scarring concerns during your consultation.

You should avoid wearing glasses that rest on the bridge of your nose for at least 6 weeks after rhinoplasty. The weight of glasses can affect the healing bone and cartilage and potentially alter your result. During this period, you can tape your glasses to your forehead, use contact lenses, or try adhesive nose pads that distribute the weight differently. Your surgeon will give you specific guidance based on your procedure.
