There are several types of tummy tuck, and your surgeon will recommend the right approach based on your anatomy and goals:

• Full tummy tuck, the most common type. An incision is made from hip to hip along the lower abdomen. Excess skin is removed, the abdominal muscles are tightened, and the belly button is repositioned. Best for patients with significant excess skin or muscle separation.

• Mini tummy tuck, addresses the area below the belly button only. A shorter incision and less extensive procedure, suited to patients with a smaller amount of loose skin concentrated in the lower abdomen.

Before Your Procedure

Once you decide to proceed, you will receive a personalised treatment plan and pre-procedure instructions. These typically include stopping blood-thinning medications, quitting smoking, and maintaining a balanced diet to support healing.

During Your Stay in Turkey

Your VIP transfer will collect you from the airport and take you to your 5-star hotel. The next day, you will attend the hospital for pre-procedure assessments, blood tests, physical examination, and a detailed face-to-face consultation with your surgeon. This is where you confirm your treatment plan and discuss any final questions.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 2-4 hours, depending on the type of tummy tuck. You will stay in the hospital for 1-2 nights with round-the-clock nursing care. Your personal translator will be with you throughout, ensuring clear communication at every stage.

After Your Procedure

After discharge, you will return to your hotel for the initial recovery phase. Before you fly home, your surgeon will see you for a follow-up appointment to check your healing and provide detailed aftercare instructions.

You will be fitted with a compression garment to wear for several weeks. This supports your healing, controls swelling, and helps shape your final result. Drains may be placed during the procedure and are typically removed before you leave Turkey.

Recovery from a tummy tuck requires patience, but most patients are pleasantly surprised by how manageable it is with proper preparation.

Days 1-5: The first few days are the most uncomfortable. You will feel tight across your abdomen and may need to walk slightly hunched until the skin settles. Pain is managed with prescribed medication. You will have drains in place for the first 2-3 days to prevent fluid build-up.

Week 1-2: Gradual improvement day by day. Short, gentle walks are encouraged from day one to promote circulation. You will still feel tight and swollen, but the worst of the discomfort has passed. Most patients switch from prescription to over-the-counter pain relief by the end of the first week.

Week 2-3: Many patients return to desk-based work at this stage, though you should avoid any straining, lifting, or bending. Swelling begins to noticeably reduce. You may feel occasional pulling or twinges, this is normal and indicates healing.

Week 3-4: A gradual return to normal daily activities. Light exercise such as walking can increase, but avoid anything involving your core muscles for at least 6 weeks.

Month 2-6: Your shape continues to refine as swelling subsides. The scar will initially appear red or pink, but fades progressively over 12-18 months. Most patients see their final result between 6 and 12 months.

Throughout your recovery, your patient coordinator will check in regularly as part of your 12 months of included aftercare.

• Blood clots, reduced through compression garments, early mobilisation, and preventative medication
• Wound separation, rare, and managed conservatively if it occurs
