Lipomas are soft, fatty lumps that grow beneath the skin. They are almost always benign (non-cancerous), but they can be uncomfortable, unsightly, or cause anxiety. If you have multiple lipomas, getting them removed individually in the UK can be expensive and involve long waits, particularly as many NHS trusts no longer fund lipoma removal.

This package covers the removal of up to 10 lipomas in a single session, making it an efficient and cost-effective solution if you have several that you want addressed.

Your all-inclusive package from £1,130 covers the removal of up to 10 lipomas, 7 nights in a hotel, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of aftercare. In the UK, private lipoma removal typically costs £200-£500 per lipoma, meaning multiple removals can quickly add up to £2,000-£5,000 or more.

What Is Lipoma Removal(10)?

Lipoma removal is a minor surgical procedure to excise (cut out) benign fatty lumps from beneath the skin. Each lipoma is removed through a small incision directly over the lump. The surgeon carefully separates the lipoma from the surrounding tissue and removes it in one piece.

The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, meaning the area is numbed but you remain awake. For multiple lipomas or lipomas in sensitive areas, sedation or general anaesthesia can be arranged.

Each removed lipoma can be sent for laboratory analysis (histology) to confirm it is benign. The incisions are closed with sutures and dressed. Scars are small and typically fade well over time, as the incisions are only as large as necessary to extract each lipoma.

This package covers up to 10 lipomas in a single session. If you have more than 10, please discuss this with your patient coordinator for a personalised quote.

Am I Suitable?

You may benefit from lipoma removal if you:

  • Have one or more soft, moveable lumps beneath your skin
  • Have lipomas that are growing, painful, or causing discomfort
  • Feel self-conscious about visible lumps
  • Want peace of mind through removal and laboratory analysis
  • Have lipomas in locations that cause friction or irritation (e.g., under clothing or in skin folds)

Lipoma removal is suitable for most adults in good general health. If you have a lump that is hard, fixed, or painful, it is important to have it assessed before scheduling removal, as these features may suggest something other than a lipoma.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Before your trip: Video consultation to discuss the number, location, and size of your lipomas.

Day 1, Arrival: VIP airport transfer to your hotel.

Day 2, Procedure day: Your surgeon examines each lipoma and performs the removals under local anaesthesia. The session takes approximately 1-3 hours depending on the number and size of the lipomas. Each is carefully excised and sent for analysis if required.

Days 3-7, Hotel recovery: Dressings are kept clean and dry. Light activities are fine. Your patient coordinator checks in regularly. Sutures are typically dissolvable or removed at your follow-up check.

Day 8, Departure: Final check-up and VIP airport transfer.

Months 1-12: Aftercare check-ins. Histology results are communicated to you once available.

Recovery & Aftercare

Lipoma removal has a very straightforward recovery.

Days 1-3: Mild soreness at the incision sites, managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Keep dressings clean and dry. Bruising is normal.

Week 1: Most patients feel completely normal within a few days. Light activity is fine. Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that stretch or pull on the incision areas.

Weeks 2-4: Sutures dissolve or are removed. Scars are small and begin to heal. You can return to all normal activities.

Months 1-6: Scars fade and flatten. Final appearance is typically very discreet.

Risks & Considerations

Lipoma removal is a low-risk procedure. Potential complications include minor bleeding, infection, scarring, and recurrence of the lipoma in the same location (uncommon but possible).

In rare cases, nerve damage near the lipoma site can cause temporary numbness. This typically resolves within a few weeks.

All procedures are performed in government-licensed hospitals with 12 months of aftercare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lipomas are almost always benign (non-cancerous). They are simply collections of fat cells that grow in a contained capsule beneath the skin. However, any lump should be assessed by a medical professional. The removed tissue can be sent for laboratory analysis to confirm it is benign.

It is uncommon for a lipoma to recur in the same location after complete removal. However, if you are prone to lipomas, new ones may develop in other areas over time. This is not related to the removal procedure itself.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the removal, only mild pressure. The anaesthetic injection itself may sting briefly. Post-operative discomfort is usually mild and managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

Incisions are kept as small as possible, typically just large enough to extract the lipoma. For most lipomas, the scar is 1-3cm long. Scars fade significantly over several months and are usually very discreet.

This package covers up to 10 lipomas. If you have more, please discuss this with your patient coordinator during your consultation. A personalised quote can be provided for larger numbers. In some cases, it may be recommended to split the removals into two sessions.
