Gynecomastia Surgery (Excisional) in Turkey
Effective treatment for male breast tissue, excisional gynecomastia surgery from £4,050.
Gynecomastia, the development of excess breast tissue in men, is far more common than most people realise. It affects up to 65% of men at some point in their lives. If you have firm, glandular breast tissue that makes your chest look or feel different from how you want it, you are not alone.
For many men, gynecomastia causes significant self-consciousness. Avoiding swimming, the gym, or even certain clothing because of how your chest looks can take a real toll on your confidence and quality of life.
Excisional gynecomastia surgery removes the excess glandular tissue directly, creating a flatter, more masculine chest contour. Your all-inclusive package from £2,650 covers your bilateral (both sides) procedure at a government-licensed hospital, 2 nights in hospital, 5 nights in a 5-star hotel, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of aftercare.
What Is Gynecomastia (excisional) (bilateral)?
Excisional gynecomastia surgery is the direct surgical removal of excess glandular breast tissue from the male chest. This approach is used when the breast enlargement is primarily caused by firm glandular tissue rather than fatty tissue (which would respond better to liposuction alone).
Your surgeon makes a small incision, typically around the lower edge of the areola where it blends with the surrounding skin. Through this incision, the excess glandular tissue is carefully excised (cut away) from beneath the nipple and chest area. The goal is to remove enough tissue to create a flat, natural-looking chest while preserving a smooth contour without indentations.
This procedure is performed bilaterally (on both sides) to ensure a symmetrical result. In some cases, your surgeon may combine excision with a small amount of liposuction to achieve the smoothest possible contour around the excision site.
The excised tissue can be sent for laboratory analysis if your surgeon considers it appropriate, providing reassurance about the nature of the tissue removed.
Am I Suitable?
You may be a good candidate for excisional gynecomastia surgery if you:
- Have firm, glandular breast tissue that has not responded to weight loss or exercise
- Feel self-conscious about the appearance of your chest
- Are at a stable weight and in good general health
- Have realistic expectations about the outcome
- Do not use anabolic steroids or other substances known to cause gynecomastia
Your surgeon will assess whether your breast enlargement is primarily glandular (requiring excision), primarily fatty (better suited to liposuction), or a combination. This determines the best surgical approach for you.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Before your trip: Video consultation to assess your chest, discuss your goals, and review your medical history. Your surgeon may ask about medications, as some can contribute to gynecomastia.
Day 1, Arrival: VIP airport transfer to your 5-star hotel.
Day 2, Procedure day: Final assessment and markings. The bilateral excision takes approximately 1.5-2 hours under general anaesthesia.
Days 3-4, Hospital stay: Recovery in a private room. A compression vest is fitted to reduce swelling and support the new chest contour. Drains may be used (removed before discharge).
Days 5-7, Hotel recovery: Daily patient coordinator check-ins. The compression vest is worn continuously. Light walking encouraged.
Day 8, Departure: Final surgeon check-up and VIP airport transfer.
Months 1-12: Regular aftercare support from your patient coordinator.
Recovery & Aftercare
Recovery from gynecomastia surgery is generally straightforward, and most men are back to normal life within a few weeks.
Days 1-5: Moderate soreness and swelling. Prescribed pain medication for the first few days. Wear your compression vest at all times. Sleep on your back.
Weeks 1-2: Swelling reduces noticeably. Light activities and desk work are possible from week 1-2. Avoid raising arms above shoulder height.
Weeks 2-4: Most patients return to work and normal daily activities. Swelling continues to subside. You can begin gentle exercise (walking, lower body).
Weeks 4-6: Compression vest can usually be removed (your surgeon will advise). Light upper-body exercise can resume.
Months 2-6: Final results become visible as remaining swelling resolves. Scars (hidden around the areola) fade significantly. Many patients describe the confidence boost as life-changing.
Risks & Considerations
Potential risks include infection, bleeding, haematoma, scarring, asymmetry, contour irregularities, changes in nipple sensation, and over- or under-correction.
A specific risk of excisional gynecomastia surgery is the development of a concavity or depression beneath the nipple if too much tissue is removed. Your surgeon carefully balances tissue removal with contouring to avoid this.
All procedures are performed in government-licensed, JCI-accredited hospitals with 12 months of aftercare support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Excisional surgery directly removes firm glandular tissue through a small incision. Liposuction removes fatty tissue using suction. If your breast enlargement is primarily glandular (firm to the touch), excision is more effective. If it is primarily fatty, liposuction may be sufficient. Many cases benefit from a combination of both.
Recurrence is uncommon if the glandular tissue has been adequately removed. However, significant weight gain, steroid use, or certain medications can contribute to new fat or tissue development. Maintaining a stable weight and avoiding causative substances helps ensure lasting results.
The incision is made around the areola where it meets the surrounding skin, making the scar very discreet. Once healed, it is very difficult to detect. The goal is a natural-looking, flat chest that does not look surgically altered.
NHS funding for gynecomastia surgery is very limited and typically only available for severe cases causing significant physical symptoms. Most men seeking treatment choose to have the procedure privately.
Light lower-body exercise can resume from around week 3-4. Upper-body exercise (including chest exercises) should wait until 6 weeks post-surgery, and only with your surgeon's approval. Start with light weights and gradually increase intensity.
