Back or Lower Back Lift in Turkey
Remove excess back skin and create a smoother silhouette, from £2,595 with 5-star hotel and 12 months aftercare.
Excess skin on the back is one of the most frustrating consequences of significant weight loss. Rolls of skin across the mid-back and lower back can cause chafing, hygiene difficulties, and make clothing fit poorly. It is an area that is very difficult to address with exercise alone.
A back lift or lower back lift removes this excess skin and tissue, creating a smoother, more contoured back and torso. It can dramatically improve how your clothing fits and how comfortable you feel in your own skin.
Your all-inclusive package from £2,595 covers the procedure at a government-licensed hospital, 2 nights in hospital, 5 nights in a 5-star hotel, VIP airport transfers, a personal translator, and 12 months of aftercare. In the UK, a back lift typically costs £6,000-£9,000.
What Is Back or Lower Back Lift?
A back lift is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the back. The exact technique depends on where the excess skin is located:
Lower back lift: An incision is made across the lower back (typically at or just above the waistline, where it can be hidden by clothing). Excess skin and tissue are removed, and the remaining skin is pulled taut and sutured.
Upper/mid-back lift: For excess skin in the bra-line area or mid-back, the incision may be placed horizontally across the upper back. This is common in women who have bra-roll fat and skin excess.
The scar placement is planned to fall within natural skin creases or areas covered by clothing wherever possible. Your surgeon may combine a back lift with liposuction of the surrounding area to achieve a smoother result.
A back lift is frequently combined with an extended tummy tuck or 360 body lift for patients who have circumferential excess skin after major weight loss.
Am I Suitable?
You may be a good candidate for a back lift if you:
- Have excess, hanging skin on your back after weight loss
- Experience chafing, irritation, or hygiene issues due to back skin folds
- Find that clothing fits poorly due to back skin excess
- Are at a stable weight for at least 6 months
- Are in good general health and do not smoke
- Have realistic expectations about scarring
A back lift is particularly beneficial for patients who have lost significant weight (30kg or more) and have excess skin concentrated on the back rather than circumferentially.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Before your trip: Video consultation to assess the location and extent of your back skin excess, and plan the incision placement.
Day 1, Arrival: VIP airport transfer to your 5-star hotel.
Day 2, Procedure day: Final markings while standing. The procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours under general anaesthesia.
Days 3-4, Hospital stay: Recovery in a private room. Drains may be placed. Compression garment fitted.
Days 5-7, Hotel recovery: Daily patient coordinator visits. Gentle walking. Avoid sleeping on your back for the first week (side or stomach sleeping is better).
Day 8, Departure: Final check-up and VIP airport transfer.
Months 1-12: Regular aftercare monitoring.
Recovery & Aftercare
Week 1: Moderate discomfort, especially when moving your upper body. Prescribed pain medication. Drains if placed are typically removed within 7-10 days. Sleep on your side or stomach.
Weeks 2-3: Swelling reduces. Light activities possible. Avoid reaching, stretching, or lifting.
Weeks 4-6: Most patients return to normal activities and work. Gentle exercise can resume.
Months 2-6: The scar matures and begins to fade. Your back contour continues to refine. Skin retracts and tightens over the treated area.
Months 6-12: Final results established. Scarring continues to improve.
Risks & Considerations
Potential risks include infection, bleeding, seroma, wound healing issues, scarring, numbness, and asymmetry. Wound healing on the back can sometimes be slower due to the tension and movement in this area.
Your surgeon will place incisions carefully and use techniques to minimise tension on the closure. All procedures are performed in government-licensed, JCI-accredited hospitals with 12 months of aftercare.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scar location depends on where your excess skin is concentrated. A lower back lift scar sits at or just above the waistline. An upper back lift scar sits across the mid-back or bra line. Your surgeon plans the incision to fall within areas covered by clothing wherever possible.
Yes. Combining a back lift with an extended tummy tuck effectively creates a circumferential body lift, addressing excess skin all the way around your torso. We also offer a specific 360 Body Lift package for patients who need this comprehensive approach.
While most back lift patients have excess skin from weight loss, the procedure can also benefit patients with age-related skin laxity on the back or those who have excess tissue in the bra-roll area.
This varies significantly between patients. Your surgeon will assess the amount of excess skin during your consultation. In major weight-loss cases, a substantial panel of skin and tissue can be removed.
Most patients can comfortably return to sleeping on their back after 2-3 weeks, once the initial healing is complete and the incision site can tolerate the pressure. Your surgeon will advise based on your specific procedure.
