Under-Eye Filler in Turkey

Under-eye filler (tear trough filler) is an injectable treatment that addresses hollowing and dark circles beneath the eyes. A small amount of hyaluronic acid gel is carefully placed beneath the skin in the tear trough area, the groove that runs from the inner corner of the eye down towards the cheek.

What causes under-eye hollowing?

As you age, you naturally lose fat and bone volume in the mid-face area. This causes the area beneath the eyes to look sunken, creating a shadow that appears as dark circles. Some people are genetically predisposed to deep tear troughs from a young age. Either way, the result is the same, a tired, drawn appearance that does not reflect how you feel.

Before Your Treatment

Your journey begins with a free consultation. You will discuss your under-eye concerns, and your practitioner will assess whether your dark circles are caused by volume loss (suitable for filler), pigmentation, or other factors.

Preparation is minimal. Avoid blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and fish oil for 24-48 hours before your appointment to reduce the chance of bruising.

During Your Treatment

The treatment takes place at a licensed clinic. Your practitioner cleanses the area and applies a topical numbing cream. After the cream takes effect (about 15-20 minutes), the treatment begins.

Using a fine cannula (a blunt-tipped instrument), a small amount of hyaluronic acid filler is carefully placed beneath the skin in the tear trough area. The cannula technique is preferred for this area because it reduces bruising and provides the smoothest, most even result.

The practitioner works slowly and precisely, adding small amounts at a time and gently massaging the product into place. The entire treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

After Your Treatment

You can see the improvement immediately. There may be mild swelling, which settles over 1-2 days and reveals the true result. You can leave the clinic and return to your normal activities straight away.

Avoid touching the area, strenuous exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours. The full result is visible within 1-2 weeks once any swelling has fully settled.

Under-eye filler requires no recovery time. Most patients return to their normal routine immediately.

Immediately after: Mild swelling beneath the eyes is normal. The area may feel slightly tender to the touch. You can apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.

First 24 hours: Avoid touching or pressing the area. Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol, and extreme heat. Sleep with your head slightly elevated on the first night.

Days 1-3: Swelling gradually reduces. You may notice slight bruising, this is more common with under-eye treatments due to the delicate skin in this area. If bruising occurs, it typically fades within 5-7 days and can be concealed with makeup after 24 hours.

Days 3-7: Any remaining swelling and bruising resolves. The filler settles into its final position.

Week 1-2: The true result is visible. Dark circles are reduced, the under-eye area looks smoother and more refreshed, and the overall effect is a naturally well-rested appearance.

Month 12-18: The filler gradually and naturally dissolves over time. Most patients return for a top-up at the 12-18 month mark. Because some filler remains, subsequent treatments often require less product.

Under-eye filler is a delicate treatment that requires an experienced practitioner. When performed correctly, it has an excellent safety profile.

Common effects (mild and temporary):

• Mild swelling, very common, resolves within 1-3 days
• Bruising, possible due to the thin skin under the eyes. Resolves within 5-7 days
• Tenderness to the touch, resolves within days

Less common considerations:

• Tyndall effect, a bluish discolouration if the filler is placed too superficially. Avoided through correct depth placement by experienced practitioners. If it occurs, the filler can be dissolved
• Lumpiness, rare with proper technique and cannula placement. Can be gently massaged or dissolved if needed
• Asymmetry, minor differences can occur and are correctable with a small touch-up

Rare:

• Vascular occlusion, extremely rare, and the risk is significantly reduced by using a cannula rather than a needle. Your practitioner is trained to recognise and manage this immediately
• Allergic reaction, very rare with hyaluronic acid fillers

Important safety note: Hyaluronic acid filler is fully dissolvable with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. If you are ever unhappy with the result, or if any complication occurs, the filler can be dissolved quickly and safely.
