Lens Treatment in Turkey

Lenses

Phakic Intraocular Lenses
The lens of the eye may reduce in function over time, leading to weaker vision. This may be due to a natural progression over time, cataracts or other ocular conditons. In this situation, the lens can usually be replaced in order to restore better vision.
Intraocular Lens Implants (IOL) are an alternative to the common LASIK and PRK eye surgeries. IOL is also used to correct moderate to severe myopia. In some cases it is better than laser refractive surgery, producing superior results for the patient.
Phakic Intraocular Lenses are transparent lenses that are surgically placed between the iris and the cornea. These lenses allow light to be properly focused on the retina for clearer vision without the use of corrective glasses.
Implantable lenses function like contact lenses to correct vision. The difference is that Phakic IOLs sit permanently in the eye rather than needing to be repeatedly placed on the surface of the eye.
Cataract Surgery
Multifocal, Trifocal, Toric intraocular lenses
Cataract surgery involves removing the lens of the eye. In most cases, the lens is replaced with an artificial one. Cataracts are cloudy patches which form over the lens of the eye, reducing vision. They often grow over time. Surgery can remove them and restore normal vision.
Cataracts negatively impact quality of life in various ways. For many people they make it unsafe to drive or work. They can also make it difficult to read, watch television, cook, or do many other essential everyday tasks. They can reduce an individual’s independence. Cataracts may also make certain forms of light painful.
Cataract surgery is a safe and common procedure. It is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning the patient can leave the hospital after surgery. The risk of complications related to cataracts may be increased for people with other eye conditions or other serious medical conditions. In some cases, cataract surgery is not possible due to other conditions such as glaucoma or macular degeneration.
A full assessment and diagnosis will be carried out by an expert surgeon and their staff to decide if cataract surgery is a suitable option for a particular patient. Medical staff will discuss the process and available options in detail.
